Wolf Urine
Visit this website for a testimonial http://www.novanewsnow.com/Natural-resources/2009-09-15/article-594463/WolfUrine-it-works/1 This stuff works. I have never seen anything work so fast and so effective to keep deer away. We have had numerous testimonials from our customers. If you follow our simple instruction you should have our results. It took one person 45 minutes to protect 2 ACRES for 2 years. It makes sense that this product has the effect it does. For thousands of years deer have been part of the carnivore's food chain. The keen sense of smell and hearing has given deer the mechanisms they need to survive and thrive.. Wolf urine has a distinctive scent which triggers a response to deer that it is a predator; because of this the deer stay away. Note: Take into consideration the other herbivores that may have a flight response to the odor of wolf urine. For example, I'm not sure how sheep or other animals would respond to wolf urine. If you notice any usual activity from any other animals on your property you might want to remove the wolf urine to see if a calm is restored to the domestic animal population. Site Location:
Set the station on the perimeter of your property. The objective is to keep the deer as far as possible from what you don't want them to eat.(the target plant). Even if your intent is to protect one plant you should still set up a perimeter at the edge of your property. Set up the stations on 30ft to 40ft centers and as far from the target plant as possible. We have one of the sides of our perimeter at the garden center on 60ft centers and it works but we plan to move the station closer to each other. Always knock on wood. We attached 250ml glass canning jars 3ft off the ground on wooden 2"x4"s on 60ft centers. We put a cotton rag in each jar and then put 2 or 3 caps full of wold urine on the cotton. We finished off the station by putting a rubber flap over the jar to keep out the rain out of the jar. Make sure there is a good space between the top of the jar and the rubber flap. Look at the photos on this page to see how the rubber flap is attached to allow an air space between the top of the jar and the rubber flap. Every 2 to 3 weeks we put in a bit of fresh Wolf urine to each jar. We have been deer free for 2 years.
Our Experience:
Spencer's Garden Centre has been located in Shelburne Nova Scotia for 25 years. We have always had deer on the property eating roses, hostas, and lilies. In 2009 we used wolf urine on the whole property and had no deer. It works!
